Give your Christmas tree a second life, not in the dumpster.
You may find so many uses you might start collecting trees from your neighbors!
Lawn and garden maintenance doesn't end in the fall. Fall grass and wildflower seeding is called dormant seeding and can really boost your landscape.
This practice works best in October or November while the ground is bare but slightly freezing at night. Broadcast the seeds in bare areas to establish good soil to seed contact. If the weather warms up you will need to irrigate; preventing the seeds from drying. Over the winter, the seeds will be ready waiting until spring.
Don't be to hasty in the spring, many seeds can take up to a month to germinate. In the spring you will see your hard work in a fuller lawn or the beauty of wildflower blooms.
Dormant Seeding Lawns: Last chore of the season?
Weed control doesn't end in the fall. In fact, the fall is a great time to treat weeds in your lawn or wild areas. Perennial weeds begin to prepare for the winter season by storing sugars and nutrients into their root systems. This benefits the effects of herbicides. The herbicides are moved through the entire plant. Check out this article for my information: Fall Lawn Weeds
Starting a new small business has been exciting. From building a webpage to filing for my IRS EIN. I am learning many new things during this process. But, that doesn't mean the gardening season is over for the year. It's time to mulch up the leaves in the lawn, cut back the flower beds, turn the compost, and secure the deer fencing. Happy fall gardening!
